I was invited to propose the vote of thanks for the JRSS B discussion paper Functional models for time-varying random objects, written by Paromita Dubey and Hans-Georg Muller. The written version of my presentation is published in JRSS B. The discussion meeting was filmed, see the video embedded below.
This was a great honour, since discussion meetings such as this one are landmark events in the development of statistics. For instance, the first International Prize in Statistics was awarded to Sir David Cox for the “(Cox) Proportional Hazard Model” that was presented and discussed in a similar discussion meeting of the royal statistical society.
